Group 5 Introductions

Hello there and welcome to our blog! When’s the last time you read a blog, right? Well feel the nostalgia course through your veins as we inform you of our semester project on San Francisco’s historic Chinatown’s Grandview Theater.

Our group is comprised of Christopher Magana, Zishan Huang, Christine Oh, and McKenzie Hollowell. Our initial Zoom last Friday was productive and fun; an important dynamic to encourage for a long-term project.

After looking into several options, our group decided on researching Chinatown’s Grandview Theater in San Francisco, with the goal of learning more about one of Chinatown’s first modern theaters, rich in Chinese-American film history.

Moving forward, we plan on utilizing on-campus libraries, such as the East Asian Library, to request help locating primary archival material, as well as course office hours. Additionally, we are hoping to visit the theater during the class field trip; However, we plan on reaching out to them if it isn’t one of the planned stops.

As far as division of work, thankfully our group is very collaborative and thus far are working together on collecting research material in order to devise a cohesive direction, writing on a collaborative document, and McKenzie is charged with posting final drafts to the blog.

Hope you enjoy following our progress throughout the semester!
